I am dating myself when I talk about the old TV program Wonder Woman. In the 1970s program the actress Lynda Carter goes about her everyday life but all of a sudden there would be a threat to the world, she would twirl, there would be a bright light and BAM, Wonder Woman. She would use her magical bracelets and strength to save the day. I thought she was so powerful!
Do you know as mamas we have power? Do you know that we are amazing when we band together? I am not going to get political in this post because we all know we don’t need that, but the soccer moms are talked about as a powerful force in elections. My goodness. That is awesome!
I have a force of women around me. I call them Wonder Women. They know who they are. I have called them crying and at the end of my rope. They listen. They text on crappy days. More importantly, they pray for me. I do the same for them.
I talked to a mama last night that has created a band of women to support each other and give each other a bit of rest. It. Is. Amazing.
This mama has a child with a label. She has written a book, created an organization called Labeled & Loved which is now a meeting place for other hurting mamas. I get chills thinking about it.
I originally reached out to find out information about different learning options for Jedi. She was a wealth of knowledge! She started talking and I frantically started writing. She was able to give me information that would have taken me months to research.
I did the same thing for some mamas in my group this morning. Their babies have had terrible stomach issues. I found something this morning that walked through how the cancer can cause ulcers. No one had discussed that with them previously.
Mamas we are a force. We don’t need to have hurting children to support each other. Find your people. Find the mama in the group that no one is talking to. Walk up to her. Smile. Hear her story.
A mama did this for me recently. I was sitting by myself. We were preparing for another trip to MD Anderson and I had nothing left. She walked up to me and gave me a hug. It was like a drink of water in a desert. I was done. I was struggling. Her hug helped pick me up and helped me keep moving.
We have such power when we support each other. We are the backbone of our families. We are the friendships that can get each other through the worst times and celebrate the best times. As I tell my friends, we are Wonder Women because we have chosen to support each other.
